ABOUT ME
My name is Lydia Norton, and I am from Auburn, Indiana. I am a student at Indiana University Bloomington where I am pursuing a BFA in photography and a BA in journalism. Through my own experiences and those of others, I want to encapsulate how “femaleness” manifests itself in my own life and critique certain ideas surrounding what womanhood should be. I explore the role women have played throughout history by photographing and abstracting the human body. My research delves into the critique of the male gaze in art history and pop culture. My interests lie in themes of sexuality, maternity, and family dynamics. Through analysis of my matrilineal history and my maturation process, I hope to discover more about what womanhood means to me.
